Alexis is a PhD candidate in the lab of Dr. Cynthia Cornelissen at Georgia State University. Her dissertation research focuses on metal dependent regulation of nutrient acquisition systems in N. gonorrhoeae. She is also characterizing the mechanism by which this metal-dependent regulation occurs. These studies inform gonorrhea vaccine and therapeutic development by identifying the transcriptional response necessary for the expression of potential vaccine and therapeutic targets that confer resistance to metal limitation in the host. Alexis has accepted a position as an IRACDA-SPIRE post-doctoral fellow in Dr. Rob Nicholas’ lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
