Julie completed her PhD in Microbiology in 2017 from the University of Georgia studying the marine symbiotic relationship between Vibrio fischeri and the Hawaiian Bobtail Squid studying gene regulation and in-symbiosis transcriptional reporter construction. She then accepted an NIH Postdoctoral fellowship IRACDA teaching and research fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University starting in Cynthia Cornelissen’s laboratory in 2018. She followed Cindi to Georgia State University where she moved into her junior faculty position. Julie’s work focuses on vaccine antigen discovery/engineering as well as mAb-tool development.
