Secretary

Rachel Exley is a Departmental Lecturer at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford, based in the Bacterial Pathogenesis Group led by Professor Christoph Tang. She has over 20 years’ experience in bacterial physiology and pathogenesis, following a PhD in Microbiology from Université Paris XI (France) and subsequent posts at Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. Her research interests are molecular mechanisms of meningococcal immune evasion, vaccine development, host–pathogen interactions, and interactions between Neisseria species. Alongside research, Rachel is actively involved in teaching and academic service. She has designed and delivered bacteriology practical courses and seminars, and provided tutorials for medical students at Somerville College Oxford. Rachel has received University of Oxford awards for Excellence in Teaching, and is committed to supporting the wider research community through outreach and organisational roles
